Their title challenge is in the balance, they have been knocked out of both European competitions this season, but Manchester United have once again been named as the world's richest club.

The reigning Premier League champions have topped Forbes magazine's list for an incredible eighth year in a row with their value estimated at an astronomic £1.39billion.

Spanish giants Real Madrid and Barcelona rank in second and third place respectively on Forbes' list.

Then Arsenal are the next highest placed English side in fourth followed by Italians AC Milan and Juventus and Germans Bayern Munich and Schalke 04 in the list
Chelsea and Liverpool also make the top 10 in seventh and eighth respectively.
United's neighbours and title rivals Manchester City have moved up two places compared to last year but are still down in 13th place.

United raked in a staggering £103.5m in commercial revenue alone last season, while their overall value dwarves City's of £276.5m.

The list also reveals that United have a global fan base of £330m, while City's wage bill total £93.6m.
