MANCHESTER UNITED RE - ESTABLISH 5 POINT LEAD WITH A COMFORTABLE WIN OVER ASTON VILLA

Manchester United re-established their five-point lead at the top of the Premier League with a comfortable 4 - 0 win over Aston Villa in old trafford.

The home side took the lead just seven minutes in after Ashley Young was adjudged to have been tripped by Ciaran Clark inside the box and Wayne Rooney scored from the spot.

The penalty award was hotly debated after Young appeared to make the most of what was minimal contact from the Villa youngster.

United doubled their lead on the stroke of half time when Danny Welbeck tapped home from close range and Rooney scored his second after the break.

Nani, making his return after a long injury lay-off, added a fourth in stoppage time.
