EURO 2012: DEFOE RETURNS TO ENGLAND'S CAMP AFTER FATHER'S DEATH

Jermain Defoe rejoined the England squad in Poland on Saturday morning and immediately headed out to training with his team-mates.

The Spurs forward had returned home following the death of his father earlier in the week but was back at the team's hotel in Krakow

The striker is now expected to start on the bench in the Group D opener against France on Monday.

The news is a boost to boss Roy Hodgson, who is without suspended Wayne Rooney for the first two matches of the tournament

The Tottenham striker went back home on Thursday morning after hearing the sad news.

However, he was back in the team hotel on Saturday morning and will take part in a closed-doors training session as England prepare for Monday's match in Donetsk.

Defoe's father Jimmy died after his long fight with throat cancer. It remains to be seen whether Defoe will return to the UK again for the funeral.
