Minister of Sport and Chairman of the National Sport Commission Bolaji Abdullahi has debunked reports that he ordered the National football team to win the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations.
The Minister made the clarification when coach of the super of Nigeria Stephen Keshi paid him a courtesy visit on Thursday at Abuja to seek his support in the quest to qualify for the Nation cup billed for South Africa next year.
Abdullahi was reported to have ordered the Nigeria Football Federation to get rid of Keshi if Nigeria failed to win the Africa Cup of Nations
The heat generated by the report had similarly prompted the NFF to issue a rebuttal that it got a controversial order from the minister during their meeting.
Keshi’s meeting with the Minister was aimed at bringing stability to the national team ahead of the important fixture in Monrovia on September 8 as well helping to proffer ways to motivate the team to qualify for the nations cup next year.
