English Premier League side, Arsenal will make a £15million offer for Spain striker Adrian Lopez when the transfer window re-opens in January
It was revealed last week that coach Arsene Wenger wants to sign a new centre-forward in January after accepting he has not managed to fill the void left by former skipper Robin van Persie, who departed for Manchester United for £24m during the summer.
The Gunners boss knows he must strengthen his attacking options after privately admitting Olivier Giroud and Gervinho are not the answer to his central-striking quandary.
Wenger has £35million to spend during the next transfer window and is willing to use a hefty slice for that budget to bring a top-level striker to north London.
He is expected to dispatch one of his scouts to watch the Atletico Madrid forward play against Real Sociedad on Sunday.
Lopez's international team-mate Fernando Llorente remains on the radar, while the Gunners have also checked out Fiorentina's Stevan Jovetic, who is a target for Manchester City.
