NIGERIA SEEDED IN POT 2 AHEAD OF AFCON DRAW IN SOUTH AFRICA


The Super Eagles of  Nigeria will not be one of the top seeds for the 2013 Africa cup of nations draw which willl hold in Durban, South Africa on October 24.

According to the Confederation of Africa football seeding system, Nigeria are seeded in Pot 2 alongside Mali, Tunisia and Angola.
Ivory Coast will once again be the Africa Cup of Nations team to beat when the group stage of the South Africa 2013 Nations cup commennces early next year as they have been seeded in pot one alongside Ghana, Defending Champion, Zambia and host South Africa.

Algeria, Burkina Faso, Morocco and Niger are seeded in Pot 3 while Togo, Cape Verde,
Democratic Republic of Congo and Ethiopia are seeded in Pot 4.

The Seeding is based on results from the past three African Cup of Nations tournaments in Ghana,
Angola and the one co-hosted by Gabon and Equatorial Guinea in January this year rather than Fifa ranking.


Defending champion, Zambia and host South Africa were assigned the position A1 and C1 as holder of trophy and  organising country respectively while the other 14 qualified teams were ranked based on their performances during the last three previous nation cup of 2008, 2010 and 2012.
