Ex-Nigeria World Cup goalkeeping star Peter Rufai has regained conscious after he fell into a coma on Monday night, a family member said.

The former Super sagles captain opened his eyes for the first time on Tuesday after he slumped in his Adeniran Ogunsanya office in Lagos.
Rufai is now making efforts to communicate, the brother added.

The goalkeeper, who played in several European leagues including Spain and Portugal, suddenly slumped at the office and was rushed to hospital Monday night.

He is said to have taken the death of his mother last week very badly.

Last year, the long-serving international was the co-ordinator of the Nigeria Olympic team.
