BBC AFRICA PLAYER OF THE YEAR: KATONGO DELIGHTED AT BEING NOMINATED




Zambia captain Christopher Katongo says he is excited to have made for the 2012 BBC Africa player of the year award shortlist.

The China-based player who inspired the Chipolopolo of Zambia to win the African cup of nations in Gabon and Equatorial Guinea earlier in the year said it was a great feeling to be getting some recognition in 2012.

Katongo, who failed to make the final cut for the 2012 CAF player of the year shortlist, is in contention with four other players for the BBC accolade.

The quartet on the shortlist is Yaya Toure of Manchester City his compatriot and Cote d' Ivoire striker Didier Drogba of Chinese side Shanghai Shenhua and Senegal Newcastle striker Demba Ba.
And Morocco playmaker Younes Belhanda of French champions Montpellier completes the BBC shortlist.

The winner will be announced on december 13 after a popular poll is tallied.
