MANCHESTER UNITED TO MAKE A £6M OFFER FOR ZAHA
English premier league champion, Manchester United will make a formal bid for Crystal Palace forward Wilfried Zaha in the next 48 hours.
Manchester united are confident they are the only serious contenders to sign Zaha this month and are using that belief to drive the price down.
It is understood that United will play hardball with the Championship club by making a cash offer as low as £6million.
Palace co-owner Steve Parish originally valued the England forward at £20m.
The total amount of United's offer could reach as much as £12m, with the deal including add-ons and performance related payments.
But United are reluctant for the cash part of the bid to exceed £8m, something that will be underlined when they make their move this week.
It is understood United will pay half of the fee up front, with the remainder staggered over the course of Zaha's contract.
United are also willing to loan the 20-year-old back to Palace for the rest of the season and send some of their most promising youngsters to the south London club on a temporary basis as part of the deal.
Arsenal, who have a long-standing interest in Zaha, could yet challenge for his signature.
The winger grew up as an Arsenal fan and it is understood he would find it difficult to reject a move to the Emirates Stadium.
