Ivory Coast duo of Jean-Jacques Gosso and Abdul Razack have been expelled from the national team after throwing blows at each other just as the training session was being concluded, at the Félix Houphouët-Boigny Stadium on Wednesday afternoon.
The two midfielders swung at each other for no apparent reason as the training was coming to an end.
It took several teammates and staff members to separate the two players, before the eyes of Federation’s president Sidy Diallo, several clubs’ presidents and a huge crowd of Elephants’ fans.
The sad spectacle on their part was not at all to the taste of the supporters, the media and the numerous officials present, with an enraged Diallo promptly leaving the stadium.
And as expected, action was taken against the guilty parties, who were asked to leave the squad before further sanctions.
Thus, Coach Lamouchi is expected to leave Abidjan on Thursday morning without two of his defensive midfielders, to head to Dar Es Salaam where the Elephants will face Tanzania on Sunday in the 5th round of the 2014 World Cup qualifiers.
