''THIS GUNNERS MEAN BUSINESS'' ARSENAL MAKE FRESH £42 MILLION FOR
English premier league side, Arsenal have shown their seriousness in the transfer market as they launched a fresh bid for Liverpool's Luis Suarez and it is an amazing amount of £42million
Manager Arsene Wenger believes the talented Uruguay forward can inspire Arsenal to the Premier League title and has consequently sanctioned an offer for him in excess of a club-record £40million.
A bid of £40m would trigger a complex clause in Suarez's contract but Arsenal are understood to be offering an initial £35m and a further £7m in add-ons, meaning there is no certainty that Liverpool will accept.
Previous offers of £30m and £35m from the gunners have already been rejected by Liverpool, who paid £22.7m to sign Suarez in January 2011, but Arsenal have made him their No 1 target and are focusing their efforts on his recruitment having seemingly missed out on the transfer of Real Madrid striker Gonzalo Higuain.
Wenger already believes Suarez is interested in moving south and with Higuain close to joining Napoli knows a statement in the transfer market is overdue.
Though the forward has again appeared perfectly content since joining Liverpool's pre-season tour of Australia in Melbourne, it is almost certain he would want the opportunity to at least discuss the move but Liverpool maintain that the clause in his contract means they are only obliged to inform Suarez of any offer, not to accept it.
