Heaven help us: The Stoke loss was the eighth league defeat of the season for Rooney and Co
Manchester United forward Wayne Rooney appears to have turned to God in a bid to rescue his team's stuttering season.

The David Moyes side lost for the eighth time this season when they were beaten 2-1 by Stoke on Saturday.

And Rooney later tweeted that he was still up at 2am watching GOD TV.
Divine intervention: Rooney tweeted that he was watching GOD TV at 2am on Sunday morning

According to The Sun, he said: '@godtv I'm watching and feel you. Much love.'

The 28-year-old striker has previously said he prays for his family before every match.
The England forward deleted the tweet but not before other users poked fun at him.

Tino Cappuccino said: 'Your teams gonna need more than God to resurrect your top 4 hopes' while another added: 'Is Rooney OK? Tweeting Godtv at 2am in the morning, has he turned to God cos of Moyes?'
Dejected: Wayne Rooney and his Manchester United team-mates were on the end of a defeat by Stoke

United are currently languishing in sixth place in the league, seven points behind Liverpool in fourth and a staggering 15 points behind top-of-the-table Arsenal.
