Real Madrid wins historic 12th Champions League title

Real Madrid have become the first team to win the Champions League in successive years since 1992 after a 4-1 victory over Juventus in Cardiff, Wales on Saturday.

Zinedine Zidane's men created history with this win which was also the club's first ever Champions League - La Liga double since 1958. Ronaldo had a brace in the match as well.

As rightly predicted Real opted to start with Isco rather than Bale and they roared into the lead in the 20th minute.

Real broke on a quick counter with Benzema striding forward and feeding Ronaldo out wide. He lays it off for Carvajal on the overlap who cuts it back to him, CR7 proceeded to find the bottom corner, BANG!! Real Madrid a goal up.

Incidentally, Cristiano's goal made him only the second player ever (After Alfredo Di Stefano) to score in 3 different Champions League finals. The goal was also Real Madrid's 500th goal in competition.

Juventus went on to equalise seven minutes later when Mario Mandzukic scored a stunning overhead kick.

Bonucci pings a diagonal for Sandro who volleys a pass for Higuain who chests it for Mandzukic. The Croatian goes on to chest it with his back to goal and unleashes an overhead screamer that finds the top corner!! One word - EXCEPTIONAL!

And it was1-1  to leave the game in the balance at half-time.

However, Real Madrid unleashed their lethal self in the second half. With Juventus defending in their numbers.

A Real Madrid move breaks down in the Juve box and it is cleared out but Casemiro pounces on it and takes a hopeful shot from about 30 yards.

Unfortunately for Juventus, it takes a huge deflection off Khedira and nestles in the back of the net, leaving Buffon stranded.

A few minutes later, Cristiano Ronaldo bagged his brace with a neat side-footed finish at the near post after Modric's cutback.

That goal became Ronaldo 600th career goal for both club and country. Wow "Man of Steel"!.

Things got from bad to worse in the 82nd minute when Juan Cuadrado was sent off for a second bookable offence after a stamp on Sergio Ramos.

Marco Asensio applied the finishing touch with the insurance goal late on in the 90th minute to make it 4-1 and deny Juventus any hope of a surprise come-back.

A shell-shocked Juve had nothing to offer for the rest of the game as Real Madrid danced their way to a historical triumph that will be talked about for years to come!, with Gigi Buffon sadly missing out on clinching the Uefa champions league trophy for the third time, a golden career we must say but its time to take a bow.

Great night for Zidane and his son Enzo.
