Premier League side Chelsea have completed the signing of Germany international, Antonio Rudiger from Serie A side, AS Roma for a reported fee of £34 million.
Rudiger had been long linked with a move to Stamford Bridge with Chelsea and Roma finally agreeing a fee.
He spent two seasons with As-Roma after joining from German club, Vfb Stuttgart, and made 26 Serie A appearances in 2016-17 as they finished second to Juventus, and he has now signed a five-year deal at Stamford Bridge.
Rudiger, who contributed to the success of Germany in the just concluded FIFA Confederations Cup in Russia, was contracted to Roma until 2020, but has opted for a switch to the Premier League, becoming the Blues's second summer signing following the arrival of goalkeeper Willy Caballero on a free transfer from Manchester City.
In his first Chelsea interview he said, "It's a great feeling because not every player has the opportunity to join a huge club like this,".
The 24-year-old adds to Antonio Conte's defensive options after the departure of club legend, John Terry who recently joined Aston Villa, and Nathan Ake, sold to Bournemouth, he is definitely a good replacement to fill that void.
