Cristiano Ronaldo strongly denies tax evasion following court appearance

Real Madrid star, Cristiano Ronaldo has released a statement following his hearing in court today regarding claims he had failed to pay his taxes in full.

The current world best footballer appeared in court on Monday (Today) morning over accusations he had failed to remit €14.7 million worth of taxes over the years 2011-14.

After the hearing which lasted about 1:30minutes, Ronaldo did not speak to the media in the immediate aftermath of the hearing but instead released a statement later on saying,
"I have never hidden anything, nor did have I ever had the intention of evading taxes," said Ronaldo.

"The Spanish Treasury knows the details of all my income because we have given them it.

I always do my tax returns voluntarily because I think we all have to declare and pay taxes according to our income."

It is also reported and claimed that Ronaldo created a special company to handle his image rights when he completed a world record transfer from Manchester United to Real Madrid in 2010, a claim which the player completely rejects.
