Premier League side Everton have confirmed the return of Wayne Rooney from Manchester united.
Rooney has returns to his boyhood club 13 years after departing Merseyside for Old Trafford, where he won five Premier League titles and the Champions League.
The 31 year old's agent Paul Stretford negotiated his move back to Goodison Park with Everton chairman Bill Kenwright last week.
It will definitely be an emotional return to Merseyside for Rooney - 13 years after moving down to United for £25.6million.
Wayne Rooney has signed a two-year deal with the Toffees, and will be hoping to win his place back in the England team having secured his move.
“Wayne has shown me that ambition that we need and that winning mentality – he knows how to win titles and I’m really happy he’s decided to come home,” said Everton manager Ronald Koeman.
“He loves Everton and he was desperate to come back. He is still only 31 and I don’t have any doubts about his qualities. It’s fantastic he’s here.”
Surely the Merseyside derby just got hotter with this latest addition.
