Full-time: Bayern Munich 0 Liverpool 3
Sadio Mane, Mo Salah and Sturridge earns Liverpool a shocking win as a torrid pre-season continues for Bayern.
The annual Audi cup kicked off yesterday with the host, Bayern Munich not finding it easy as their poor pre-saeson performance continued.
Two First-half goals from Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah and a lob from Daniel sturridge late on gave Jurgen Klopp's side a win on a night of cool showers of rain and lightening above the sky.
Bayern began the game threatening and firing from all cylinders with their sleek passes but created little or no oppurtunity as Liverpool tried to find their rythme in the opening 5 minutes of the game, causing a lot of trouble for young Alexander Arnold playing at right back for Liverpool who did well in curtailing the pressure.
The game finally burst open when in the 8th minute, Bayern gifted liverpool the lead when Corentin Tolisso lost possession in midfield to Roberto Firmino, granting the foward space to run towards the penalty area and played in Sadio Mane, who trapped and took the shot with his left foot from a tight angle to beat Sven Ulreich, Bayern goalkeeper on the night. Ulreich made another good save minutes later keeping out a Salah effort from a Moreno wonderful cross, a result of another quick Liverpool counter-attack with made Bayern resort to hacking down Mane severally.
Thiago Alcatanra was replaced by Renato Sanchez after the midfielder complained of discomfort in his abdominal area. Not long after that Ulreich made another save well again from an Alberto Moreno's wonderful free-kick.
Then came the 34th minute, Liverpool got the second goal, Sadio Mane took a run at the Bayern defence then stop, waited for Moreno's run from the left and released Moreno into the area with a brilliant backheel, the goal keeper had little or less to do has the parried Moreno deflected shot fell towards Salah who just had a simple task of heading the ball into the net.
Bayern pushed further in the second half and were punished for their pursuit of a come-back when Sturridge who was played onside by Hummels ran the length of their half unchallenged before lobbing the ball over Ulreich and into the net – looking at the replay goal, that appeared to have injured the striker, who was taken off soon after.
Before then Adam Lallana had been penalised for offside when Marko Grujic swept home a third midway through the second period, the referee gave the goal but later chalked it off sighting Lallana interfered with play.
Liverpool will now face Atletico Madrid who defeated Napoli 2 v 1 in Wednesday's (Today)final.
