According to reports which broke Wednesday, Neymar is said to have agreed a five-year deal with Paris Saint-Germain and he is expected in Paris within the next two days to cross the T's and dot the I's on the most expensive transfer in world football history.
According to Sky Sports it is understood that Neymar to the decision to leave Barcelona following talks while on holiday near Rio de Janeiro in early July, before he actually joined Barcelona club's pre-season tour of the United States.
By Friday Neymar Jr is expected to arrive in Paris by Friday latest to complete his move.
Back in Spain, Barcelona spokesman Josep Vives confirms Neymar asked to leave the club in a statement via the club website yesterday.
It is reported the total value of the PSG deal is worth nearly £450m (€500m), which includes wages, bonuses and a buyout clause of £198m (€222m).
Neymar also has been offered an astonishing salary of £26.8m-a-year (€30m) after tax, around £515,000-a-week.
Barcelona confirmed the buyout clause will have to be "paid in its wholesome".
Reports from Sky sources also stated that a key meeting took place in Brazil earlier last month involving Neymar, his father and super-agent Pini Zahavi, who brokered this deal.
The agent, Zahavi has known Neymar since the age of 17 and has become one of the closest advisors to the player.
The report further indicated that "Since Neymar decided to leave, he has had to deal with huge pressure to stay at Barcelona.
His teammates wanted him to stay but his decision to leave had been made."
On Wednesday, he met with his teammates and directors at Barcelona and said his goodbyes with emotional hugs and tears.
Lionel Messi later put upan emotional post with Neymar on instagram and wished him good luck in his future endeavors.
Barcelona, however, are in no mood for such fond farewells and the club went on the offensive with the player’s father — who is set to earn a huge commission for brokering the deal only 10 months after committing his son to a new contract at the Nou Camp until 2021.
Barcelona confirmed they have not paid Neymar’s father commission for that renewal, despite a payment of €25m (£22m) being due last Monday.
The club have deposited the money with a lawyer in the city and will take legal advice after Neymar’s transfer has been concluded, to see if they can pay only a percentage of the fee — in keeping with the proportion of the deal which Neymar served.
Spanish media reported on Wednesday night that when Neymar met with Barcelona directors on Wednesday morning they were shocked to hear him enquiring when the money owed to his father would be paid.
The source said: "People will say this has been driven by money, but he wants to become the leader at the club.
He wants to be independent, and wants to win the Ballon d'Or. He believes he can do that in Paris."
Meanwhile La Liga president Javier Tebas has threatened to block the transfer but it's understood PSG officials remain "very confident" there will be no issues with the buyout clause.
In fact, Neymar flew to Porto on Wednesday where he had a medical in the presence of PSG’s Portuguese sporting director Antero Henrique and later that night the agent Wagner Ribeiro, who is working with the Neymars on the deal, confirmed the fee will be paid in the next 48 hours and the player could be presented in Paris as early as Friday.
Neymar had been "close" to joining Manchester United in last summer's transfer market but chose PSG after a further season staying at Barcelona.
Neymar would join his five Brazilian international teammates at PSG, which includes the trio of Dani Alves, Thiago Silva and Marquihos.
