Controversial American sprinter took the glory against the odds in shocking final race at the London Stadium.
Justin Gatlin spoilt what was suppose to be a farewell race for world record holder Usain Bolt, a result that silenced and shocked the London Stadium and claim the 100m Gold.
Gatlin was jeered and booed throughout, even right from when the names were called due to his previous doping bans.
Gatlin won a fiercely contested race in a time of 9.92 seconds as Jamaican Bolt could only finish third which left all in an Awe.
Gatlin american compatriot, Christian Coleman finished second in a time of 9.94 seconds while Jamaican Bolt sadly crossed the finish line in 9.95 seconds.
Speaking after his shock defeat, bronze medal winner Bolt told reporters, "It was rough. But I came out and I did my best."
Despite the poor outing, the Bolt appreciated the 66,000-capacity crowd at the London Stadium.
He said to them: "Thanks for your support. I really appreciate it."
